BD IV Fluid Support
BD is committed to supplying essential products that support the delivery of and reliance on IV fluids.
- Overview
- Resources
While no BD manufacturing facilities1 were affected by Hurricane Helene, we recognize the urgent IV fluid supply constraints created by manufacturing outages from impacted companies. BD is committed to doing everything we can to support customers by supplying essential products that support the delivery of IV fluids.
The following BD products were not impacted by Hurricane Helene and may be used as alternative care options for IV fluid therapies. Our manufacturing network remains strong and fully operational. We continue to leverage our ongoing capital investment and expansion to deliver increased operational capacity and volume output. However, we have placed these products on a precautionary allocation to prevent stockpiling and ensure customers can continue to access these products during a heightened demand for all saline products:
In addition to the products above, the BD® Surgiphor™ Antimicrobial Irrigation System may help to reduce reliance on IV solutions used for irrigation purposes.2
BD’s priority is to continue serving our current customer base at historical levels. Additional information on incremental product availability is being communicated directly to our customers, channel partners, and Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs). Currently, we do not anticipate supply challenges for historical volume production, and the distribution channel is currently at healthy levels.
We are closely monitoring all incoming orders to meet our supply commitments. Order allocation will be prioritized as follows:
- Current customers based on recent historical demand per respective product line
Ad hoc order increases above historical customer demand
Other Ad hoc orders
BD SmartSite™ Empty Bags are historically a low-usage item. Currently, we have limited supply, but we are working with our manufacturing team to expedite deliveries of additional product. Product sizes currently include 100 and 250mL configurations. Order allocations will be limited to 1,000 per purchase order and allocations will be serviced on a first-come first-served basis.
