Overview

The BD Phoenix™AP sample preparation instrument can be combined with the BD Phoenix™M50 Automated Microbiology System for automated inoculum standardization. The BD Phoenix™ AP Instrument automates human processes, decreasing technologist time and labor to prepare the panels, standardizing inoculum preparation and incorporating automated nephelometry.1-3

Efficient pre-analytical workflow

Inoculum preparation has traditionally been one of the most time consuming, manual steps associated with isolate preparation.

By incorporating automated nephelometry, the BD Phoenix™ AP Instrument may help to free up valuable technician time and reduce sample preparation workflow burden, reducing total hands-on time per sample by 50% compared to manual preparation and by 11 to 29% compared to selected competitive products.2,3

Standardized sample preparation

By incorporating automated nephelometry, the BD Phoenix™ AP Instrument standardizes inoculum preparation to help you reduce potential for human error due to variability in manual sample preparation. The BD Phoenix™ AP Instrument is capable of processing a starting McFarland of 0.20 to 4.0 to the appropriate testing McFarland and can increase the consistency of the isolate preparation.1
